Laura Sutherland

External Relations Associate

Laura Sutherland is a specialist in digital health communications and has worked in the charity and international development sectors for over ten years. She is passionate about the ways digital communications can be used to advance global health by engaging people in complex issues, communicating need and showcasing the impact that organisations are having to address global health challenges.

At MedAccess, Laura is the External Relations Associate, with responsibility for website management, digital content production and social media engagement. She works closely with colleagues to develop thought leadership content, and with MedAccess’ partners to demonstrate the impact that innovative finance can have to increase access to healthcare products in low- and middle-income countries.

Before joining MedAccess, Laura was Digital Communications Advisor at Frontline AIDS. Laura was responsible for managing the digital communications portfolio, including the promotion of the Rapid Response Fund to support LGBT organisations facing crises that affect HIV services and producing digital content to advocate for the rights of individuals affected by HIV in low- and middle-income countries.

Laura has spent the majority of her career focusing on health issues, including consulting with organisations that share her passion for advancing global health. In addition, her roles at HIV organisations Avert and Frontline AIDS enabled her to gain experience in both behaviour change communication and advocacy in the field of HIV and AIDS.

Laura holds a BA (Hons) Degree in International Development from the University of Sussex, where she focused on global health.
