Gaurav Mohta is a finance and strategy specialist with a passion for expanding access to essential health products in low- and middle-income countries.

With a background that bridges global health, innovative finance, and strategy consulting, Gaurav brings a unique blend of analytical rigour and social impact to his role as a Health Investment Manager at MedAccess.

Gaurav’s expertise lies in designing and structuring innovative financing mechanisms – including guarantees, first-loss facilities and volume commitments – that help overcome barriers to healthcare access. Prior to joining MedAccess, Gaurav served as an Investment Associate at the Gates Foundation, where he focused on developing financial solutions to improve access to health commodities across diverse markets.

During his time at the Gates Foundation, Gaurav structured a $200 million guarantee facility to enable at-risk procurement of vaccines and nutrition products, a $12.5 million volume guarantee to accelerate adoption of new malaria diagnostics and a €52 million first-loss facility to unlock high-impact health investments in underserved markets. These transactions are expected to support millions of patients while strengthening supply chains and market resilience.

Before transitioning into global health, Gaurav worked at McKinsey & Company, advising clients on corporate strategy, market entry, and commercial due diligence across the energy, materials and industrials sectors.

Gaurav holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, and a dual degree in Mining Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi.
