Senior External Relations Associate
Jessica Lea has 15 years of experience in communications for international development organisations, focusing on global health issues such as vaccines, sustainable medicine, nutrition, FGM, and family planning.
Jess began her career as a journalist at the BBC, creating news stories for the BBC One programme Newsround, before moving onto roles at Number 10 Downing Street, the Department for International Development (DFID), and the UN.
More recently Jess worked for two London-based communications agencies leading digital strategies, content, and campaigns for global development organisations including Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, the Gates Foundation, UBS Philanthropies, Save the Children, Omidyar Network, Plan International, the African Leaders Malaria Alliance, Healthcare Without Harm, and the UN.
During her 8 years at DFID, Jess travelled to multiple UK aid funded projects to document the impact of the UK government’s work. Her film and photography content has been published extensively by UK and international media including Marie Claire, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Sun, The Guardian, The Independent, Grazia, ITV, Good Morning Britain, and the BBC.
Jess holds a First Class Honours degree in Religion from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc Psychology (Distinction) from the University of East London.
