Jane Edmondson

Jane Edmondson’s background is in UK public service and international development, mainly in the health sector.
She was a civil servant in the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) until 2021, most recently as Director for East and Central Africa. Before that, Jane worked in Uganda, Pakistan and Bangladesh and as Head of Human Development in DFID’s Policy Division. She has represented the UK government on international health bodies, with a particular focus on health systems, sexual and reproductive health and rights, demography, nutrition, and malaria.
Before DFID, Jane worked in health research in the UK and the Gambia for the Medical Research Council, and for the NHS and the London School of Tropical Medicine.
She is currently a trustee of the Malaria Consortium and a member of the Advisory Group of the Resilience Against Future Threats (RAFT) Consortium.
