Trustee of MedAccess Trust

Rt Hon Baroness (Lindsay) Northover is a Trustee of MedAccess Trust.

She has been a member of the House of Lords since 2000, and served as the Liberal Democrats Health Spokesperson 2000-2, then for International Development, 2002-10. She served as a Minister throughout the coalition period, 2010-15, including in the Department for International Development, the Department of Health, the Department for Education, the Ministry of Justice, the Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs, and the Government Equalities Office. She was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Africa Minister in the Department for International Development, 2014-15.

Lindsay served as the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Angola (2016-20) and Zambia (2017-2020). She was the Liberal Democrats’ Lords Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs (2016-2021).

She has served on several Select Committees in the House of Lords, including on Embryonic Stem Cell Research, and the European Union. She currently serves on the House of Lords Select Committee on the Environment and Climate Change.

Lindsay was a Trustee of UNICEF UK, the Overseas Development Institute, the Tropical Health and Education Trust and the Malaria Consortium.  She was a member of the Advisory Council of Wilton Park. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute of Global Health Innovation, Imperial College. She is on the Board of Pensana plc and chairs the ESG committee. She is a member of the Council of the Royal African Society and a member of Council, St George’s House, Windsor.

Lindsay’s first degree is from Oxford University and she gained an MA and PhD in the USA, before becoming a Lecturer at University College London and the Wellcome Institute.
