Anil has more than 20 years’ experience in healthcare in the public and private sector. He is a former CEO of the Clinton Health Access Initiative and served as Head of Global Infectious Diseases at pharmaceutical company Viatris. Anil was closely involved in the early growth of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the role of Advisor to the Executive Director. Anil is currently CEO of the WHO Foundation.

Alison and Anil will join the Board on 1 April 2024.

“I am delighted to welcome two outstanding new members to the MedAccess Board,” said Professor Helen Rees, Chair of the MedAccess Board. “MedAccess blends the best of the public and private sector in pursuit of health impact. We will benefit greatly from Alison and Anil’s expertise as we construct more highly impactful agreements that support access to essential health products required in low resource settings. Looking ahead Alison and Anil will also bring fresh insight and rigour to our strategy development process, ahead of our new strategy in 2026.”

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support the vital work of MedAccess,” said Alison Evans. “Impact is at the heart of MedAccess’ model, from expanding the reach of vital lifesaving medical interventions in underserved communities to shaping the market for such interventions by working closely with suppliers and other partners. I look forward to supporting the team in taking forward the impact framework and in planning the road ahead to the new strategy.”

“I am delighted to join the board of MedAccess which plays a vital and unique role in the global health ecosystem by crafting agreements to shoulder risk and, in so doing, accelerates access to medical innovations. That means more people reached and more lives saved, more quickly,” said Anil Soni.

Alison Evans and Anil Soni were appointed to the MedAccess Board of Directors as non-executive directors in February 2024 for three year-terms.
