New interview series explores the science, art and impact of market shaping

MedAccess is pleased to announce the launch of Market Shapers, a new video interview series that brings together some of the most influential voices in global health to explore how market shaping works, why it matters and where it’s heading.

Market shaping is familiar to many in global health, but its inner workings are often complex and misunderstood. Market Shapers aims to unpack the mechanics by shedding light on the strategies, partnerships and real-world decisions that help ensure health products reach the people who need them.

The first three interviews from the six-part series feature conversations with leading practitioners who have helped shape the field over the past two decades. From Clinton Health Access Initiative co-founder Ira Magaziner to the Gates Foundation’s Natalie Revelle to CEPI’s Aurélia Nguyen, each guest brings a unique perspective grounded in deep experience. Their insights offer a rare window into the evolution of market shaping from its early days to its role in today’s rapidly changing global health landscape. A second set of three interviews will be published at the end of November.

As development assistance for health evolves and countries take greater responsibility for the design and delivery of their own health systems, market shaping is entering an important new phase. Tools that have been used successfully over the past 25 years will need to be refined further to support local manufacturing, secure supply chains and procurement landscapes that include public, private and faith-based providers. This series explores how market shaping can be a powerful enabler of that transition, helping countries achieve their health goals through healthier, more responsive markets.

The interviews are hosted by MedAccess CEO Michael Anderson, who brings his own experience in diplomacy and development to the conversations. We hope these conversations will inform and inspire while helping to deepen understanding of a discipline that is quietly transforming access to healthcare for millions.

The first three episodes are now available on our YouTube channel.
