Expanding access to medical innovation

We live in a golden age of medical science. But over two billion people can’t access the medicines they need, causing preventable illness, disease and death. We’re here to change that.

We are a social enterprise with a mission to cut illness and death by speeding up access to lifesaving vaccines, medicines, diagnostics and technologies for people in underserved communities.

Solutions that maximise health impact

Using $200 million capital from British International Investment, we deliver maximum positive health impact while operating sustainably.

Our agreements primarily benefit people living in low- and middle-income countries that are eligible for official development assistance as defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). And at least 50% of patients receiving products as the result of an agreement must be based in BII priority territories (sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia).

Partnering for success

We work with global health partners to source and assess opportunities while engaging policymakers and civil society to understand policies, priorities and delivery methods.

Although we usually contract directly with one company or organisation, all partners have important roles to play in ensuring MedAccess agreements deliver their intended development impact.

Once a guarantee is in place, we work with suppliers, national governments, civil society, procurers and healthcare providers to ensure the healthcare products reach the people who need them.
