Michael has overall lead on strategy, partnerships, and delivery at MedAccess.
Prior to joining MedAccess in 2017 he was CEO at CIFF (the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation) and Director General at the UK Department for International Development. He has served as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on the SDGs, on the UN Commission for Life-Saving Commodities, and various committees for the UN, World Bank, G7, G20, and OECD.
He was a founder owner of Bazian, a company specialising in Evidence Based Medicine, and had a legal career for 15 years specialising in cross-border litigation.
Michael has held academic posts at SOAS and the LSE and was made a Companion in the Order of the Bath in 2014 for his services to international development.
Steph manages all aspects of administration for the Health Markets team.
Before joining MedAccess, Steph was Senior Executive Assistant and Client Engagement and Marketing Manager at Citi Group where she was responsible for the administration within the Investor Sales Team. She also managed marketing for Citi EMEA and prior to this she held several Executive Assistant roles within Bank of America Merrill Lynch and The London Stock Exchange.
Steph holds a Diploma in Office Management and she is qualified as an ILEX Legal Secretary.
Mayank leads on analysis and diligence of market shaping opportunities and he structures partnerships that enable MedAccess’ to deploy innovative finance tools. He brings nearly a decade of experience working with strategy consulting and global health organisations in the UK, the Middle East and India.
Most recently, Mayank served as a Manager with Bain & Company where he worked across a diverse range of sectors including private equity, financial services, healthcare, education, and telecom on a wide range of complex strategic, investment and operational problems. Before joining Bain, Mayank worked with the Clinton Health Access Initiative in India to strengthen health systems and shape markets across tuberculosis, malnutrition, and maternal health products.
Mayank holds an MBA from INSEAD and a bachelor’s in Economics from Hansraj College, University of Delhi.
Sophie manages all aspects of team administration for MedAccess, including scheduling, events and communication.
After graduating from the University of Southampton with a BA in Social Anthropology, Sophie worked in high-level assistant roles in NGOs, travel, IT and telecoms companies before joining MedAccess.
Alice supports MedAccess’ business operations which includes financial management, organisation development, human resources, administration, risk and strategy implementation.
Alice joined MedAccess in November 2020 from Investcorp, an asset management firm headquartered in Bahrain with offices in London, New York and several in Asia and the Middle East. She was most recently an analyst, supporting the European private equity, real estate and tech invest businesses.
Alice has worked in the financial sector for the past seven years, in various roles ranging from investment administration to financial management support. Prior to this, Alice worked primarily in sales and hospitality both in the UK and New Zealand.
Alice holds a BA in Linguistics from Victoria University of Wellington, where she predominantly studied second language education and sign language. Recently, she studied Corporate Finance at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
Charlene supports all of the administrative processes and procedures relating to operations. She joined MedAccess from CDC’s Environmental and Social Responsibility Team.
Charlene holds a BA (Hons) in English Language & Literature from City of Birmingham University, and she has several years of senior level public sector administrative experience including with HM Diplomatic Service and the NHS.
Charles has 20 years’ experience across the full range of corporate communications disciplines – in-house, agency-side and as an independent consultant.
He has worked in the private, public and third sectors across the full spectrum of public policy.
Charles was in Whitehall media relations for a decade, going on to lead teams, projects and programmes in research-intensive universities, R&D institutions and transnational education.
As General Counsel Jonathan is responsible for all legal affairs including the development, structuring and execution of MedAccess’ guarantee products. He also oversees MedAccess operations including its Finance, Communications, HR, and Facilities/IT functions.
Jonathan began his career at Clifford Chance, moving on to COO and GC roles at Globeleq, Actis Energy Fund and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority. He joined MedAccess from IFC Infraventures in July 2018.
Jonathan is a qualified English solicitor, a Sloan Fellow of London Business School (MPhil), and he holds an MSc in International Relations from Cambridge University. He also has a BA (hons) degree in History from Durham University.
Key components of Vicky’s role include strategic leadership, business planning, risk management, finance, tax and other business services including travel, security, IT and procurement.
Vicky joined MedAccess having spent nearly six years as the Global Director of Finance for Dalberg Advisors, a strategic advisory firm focusing on social impact space with 26 offices around the world.
Prior to her time at Dalberg, Vicky was the finance director for sub-Saharan Africa for McKinsey and then for the Boston Consulting Group. Vicky is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience.
Rob leads on external relations activities for MedAccess, ensuring that the organisation’s unique proposition is understood and valued, while building strong relationships with global health partners.
Rob has more than a decade of experience communicating on high profile health and development issues across the public, private and NGO sectors. He has previously held communications roles at Department for International Development, Gavi, Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, and Frontline AIDS.
Ellie works with multilateral global health organisations and pharmaceutical companies to identify financial guarantee opportunities across multiple disease areas and works with the team to diligence and structure potential partnerships.
Ellie’s previous work has been centred around international development and public health. Before taking time out to pursue further studies in health economics at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Ellie spent over five years at Dalberg Advisors leading a range of global health projects across developing country settings.
Evans is responsible for ensuring that MedAccess’ partnerships are working effectively and reaching intended beneficiaries. In his role, Evans also collects and analyses data from countries to understand how well our guarantees are performing.
Evans joined MedAccess in 2018. Previously, he worked at KPMG’s International Development Advisory Services.
Evans’ background is in public health and international development. He spent more than six years working in public health consulting across Africa, mainly in pharmaceutical supply chains and donor-funded health programmes management.
Evans holds a degree in Actuarial Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is pursuing his MSc Health Economics, Policy and Management at London School of Economics and Political Science. Evans is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Harriet provides strategic and operational HR support across recruitment, talent, reward, performance management, policy and HR operations.
A seasoned HR professional, Harriet started her career in-house within financial services where she worked in both graduate recruitment and HR. Her final in-house role was as VP at the investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort supporting the global Finance function.
For the past 14 years Harriet has been an HR Consultant for People Risk Solutions working on projects with a focus on SMEs including Gridworks, which is also a wholly owned subsidiary of CDC.
Harriet holds a post graduate qualification in HRM and an Economic History degree from Exeter University.
Laura is responsible for managing and curating MedAccess’ digital presence across the website and social media platforms.
Laura joined MedAccess in September 2021 from Frontline AIDS where she led the charity’s digital communications portfolio. She has previously held communications roles at health and community-focused organisations, including Senior Editor at Avert and Communications & Marketing Coordinator at Community Works. Laura also consults for health-focused non-profits seeking to improve their digital presence.
Laura holds a degree in International Development from the University of Sussex, where she focused on global health.
Alex focuses on executing and managing investments. His work comprises running financial analyses, managing due diligence processes and structuring transactions.
Alex joined MedAccess in September 2020 from Deutsche Bank where he led the sustainable investments strategy within the bank’s Wealth Management business.
Alex has accumulated substantial investment and finance experience through his roles at at Deutsche Bank, Hg Capital and Eight Roads.
His deal experience spans the healthcare, financial services and technology sectors and covers a range of transaction types from venture capital financings over mid-market private equity to large capital raises. Alex has also worked closely with the management teams of several healthcare portfolio companies on value-creation strategies.
Alex holds a master’s degree in Management & Strategy from the London School of Economics and BAs from the University of Nuremberg and the University of Hull in Business and International Business respectively.
Rosalind has 20 years’ experience working across the international development sector, leading social enterprise initiatives, innovation funds for social impact at scale, and developing bespoke venture-philanthropy strategies for UHNW families and for private sector development.
Rosalind began her career working in India, South Africa and Pakistan, gaining experience with grassroots not-for-profit organisations on community-led poverty-reduction programmes. More recently, Rosalind has worked for global international development agencies; Care International, Christian Aid and Prince’s Trust International, building public-private sector partnerships for social impact, and developing new ways of working to help solve pressing social and environmental challenges.
Tristana assesses and measures the downstream impact of MedAccess’ financial guarantees on people’s lives. She works across our full portfolio, ensuring health and economic outcomes are in line with our strategic objectives and values.
Tristana joined MedAccess in August 2020 from the Global Health Strategy team at Public Health England (PHE), where she developed and strengthened relationships with key international partners. Most recently, Tristana was deployed to the COVID-19 incidence response to project manage PHE’s work on assessing antibody diagnostics and conducting seroprevalence surveys.
Previously, Tristana supported the awarding and management of population health research grants at the Wellcome Trust, including large-scale programmes in the UK and low- and middle-income countries. Tristana’s background is in operational global health research.
Tristana holds a Master’s in Public Health from Imperial College London and a BA in Molecular Biology with certificates in Global Health and Neuroscience from Princeton University.
Guy assesses, diligences potential opportunities and supports the structuring and execution of transactions.
He brings almost a decade of experience working on partnerships and financing arrangements to increase access and improve delivery of health products and services around the world.
Guy joined MedAccess from Social Finance UK where he advised global health funders, investors and social enterprises on alternative financing models to tackle global health challenges.
Guy previously spent six years at GSK, where he held several positions focusing on global health policy, strategy, and access to medicines. He holds a BA in Geography from the University of Nottingham.
Hema leads our work to identify opportunities for financial tools to support lower prices and greater availability for medical products.
Hema joined MedAccess from Gilead Sciences, where she was Senior Director for South Asia. She previously served as Associate Director of the Global Markets Team at the Clinton Health Access Initiative where she developed global market shaping strategies and led negotiations to increase access to life-saving medical products.
Earlier in her career, Hema worked in Equity Research covering the Biotechnology and Healthcare Services sectors at Goldman Sachs and at Morgan Stanley.
Simon is Secretary to the Board of Directors and its Committees and oversees corporate governance within the business.
Simon has over 30 years’ experience in senior governance roles in listed and international groups of companies, most recently as Group Company Secretary at Globeleq. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Michelle manages MedAccess’ guarantee portfolio, through the development of short-term and long-term investment plans, investment analysis, and the monitoring and management of investments.
Before joining MedAccess, Michelle was a Managing Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Her career first began in the field of medicine, after graduating from the University of Oxford with a BA in Physiological Sciences and a BM, BCh.
Kaodili analyses health markets to identify partnership opportunities. He also works with the health markets and investment teams to diligence potential opportunities and execute transactions.
Kaodili joined MedAccess in September 2020. Previously, he worked in various consulting roles with Bain & Company and Dalberg Advisors, across East, West and Southern Africa. Kaodili holds a master’s in management from London Business School.
